Women’s March Chicago, the historic and broad-reaching coalition which drew more than 250,000 people to Grant Park in January, 2017, is organizing “March to the Polls.” On January 20, 2026 marchers will come together in downtown Chicago to celebrate the spirit of the resistance efforts over the past year and unite to focus on the 2018 elections and beyond.

We will stand in solidarity with Internet users across the country outraged at top Verizon lawyer turned FCC Chairman Ajit Pai’s plan to gut net neutrality. This event will mark one week before an expected vote at the FCC. Protesters will make it clear to members of Congress that it is time to stand for #NetNeutrality, not Verizon’s bottom line.

In 2012 Verizon asked Google to remove apps that allowed you to turn your phone into a mobile hotspot forcing customers to pay a fee instead.
From 2011–2013 Verizon blocked Google Wallet in favor of their own service, Isis. In 2014 Isis changed it’s name to Softcard and was then purchased in 2015 by Google Wallet.
In 2013 during oral arguments in Verizon v. FCC, Verizon lawyers stated on 5 separate accusations they would favor some preferred services, content or sites over others.
In 2014 Verizon artificially lowered internet speed to Netflix’s website holding them and their customers hostage until Netflix paid the ransom. Netflix eventually paid.
In June 2017 users reported that Verizon was once again caught slowing down access to YouTube, Netflix, and other video services and lying about it until Verizon finally admitted to it, a month later, at the end of July.

Flood the CTA’s public budget hearing to stop the proposed CTA fare hikes in their tracks. This is an emergency. The CTA board is meeting on Dec. 13!

The planned fare hikes are an attack on the most vulnerable among us. They would without cause take millions of dollars away from working and poor people. Most CTA riders cannot afford the hikes, which would raise fares across the board, including an 11% increase to single bus rides.

We absolutely reject and resist the lie that there is no money for transit and people’s needs!

Rahm’s got $95 million for a new cop academy and $2.25 billion for handouts to Amazon, which is owned by the richest man in the world. The city is handing out money to racist gentrifiers like its candy. We say money for people’s needs, not racist cops and billionaires!

We will stand together and stop the CTA far hikes because they are an outrageous attack on workers, the poor, the disabled, the elderly and people from oppressed communities.

We have not forgotten the 16 shots and City Hall cover-up, nor have we lost sight of the fact that his murderer Jason Van Dyke has still not been brought to justice despite the continued outrage of the people demanding justice. We remember two years ago when our people, outraged by the video of the brutal murder of Laquan, poured into the streets of the Magnificent Mile, demanding justice. Thousands of people blocked entrances to the stores, shutting down Victoria’s Secret, MACY’S, and NIKE, tying up traffic and crippling sales. This spontaneous unplanned boycott served notice on the mayor and his corporate financial buddies that the power of the people is awesome.

It is time once again to turn this awesome power of the people upon the Magnificent Mile to get the justice we seek.

We are boycotting the mag mile to demand Justice from the powers-that be, for Laquan McDonald who was shot 16 times in an execution-style murder by CPD Officer Jason Van Dyke. We are boycotting the mag mile to serve notice to the city council, enact our ordinance for an all elected civilian police accountability Council NOW. We are boycotting for justice for all survivors of police crimes, murder and torture, and to say that until our demands are met there will be no business as usual. We are boycotting for democracy, justice and peace, through community control of the police.
