Peter Roskam is the headline speaker at a large GOP “Reagan Dinner” Fundraiser. There’s no better opportunity to protest the lie of trickle-down economics, which are really just tax cuts for billionaires like the Koch Brothers.

With Thanksgiving only a few weeks away, billionaires and massive corporations will have many thanks for Peter Roskam, who is giving them trillions in tax breaks that will cut Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security and slash education and services that help seniors, women and people with disabilities.

The Roskam-Trump tax is a turkey that roasts the Middle Class, balloons the deficit, makes it more expensive to borrow money, raises taxes on small businesses and puts us back on the devastating and discredited road of “trickle-down economics.”

This past weekend, journalists began reporting on a leaked set of documents from a Bermuda law firm that helps corporations and billionaires avoid paying U.S. taxes. Dubbed the “Paradise Papers,” these documents unveil secrets of the ultra-elite and show that there is one set of rules for the rich and powerful, and another for everyone else.

Over a dozen people from Donald Trump’s inner circle are named in the papers, including Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, who is shown to have significant business ties with Russian oligarchs, previously undisclosed. Other clients of the Bermuda law firm, Appleby, include major U.S. corporations such as Apple, Nike, and Uber, and we expect to learn more about those companies’ finances in the coming days.

Under the Republican proposed tax plan, these same corporations and billionaires who avoid paying what they owe in U.S. taxes will be rewarded with more tax cuts and also incentivizes them to ship more jobs offshore.

We call for an immediate halt to consideration of the current GOP Tax Plan (or #TrumpTaxScam). Stand with us and join us in our call to action that:
Will highlight the need to investigate how corporations and billionaires use offshore loopholes to dodge taxes;
Will blast the Ryan-McConnell-Trump Tax Plan by emphasizing the negative impact of shipping jobs overseas; and
Will slam the GOP Tax Bill as a gift to corporations that will encourage them NOT to pay their fair share! Not only is this bill rewarding wealthy corporations, it’s elimination of the the State And Local Tax deduction (SALT) would be devastating to working Americans.

* We will resist $2.25 billion in proposed tax cuts to $500 billion Amazon and $85 billion Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos for an Amazon HQ.

* We will side with workers, oppressed and the poor, not the .1%. We will demand billions of dollars for schools, housing, healthcare and jobs with living wages-Not $2.25 billion for Amazon!

* We will resist the Amazon/billionaire blueprint of gentrified cities for the rich and white only, insane tax cuts for the new mega-monopolies and mass unemployment and slave-like, low-wage conditions for the vast majority.

The newest Muslim Ban, originally signed on September 25th, 2017, extended and made indefinite the blanket ban on 8 countries, all of which — with the exception of Venezuela and North Korea — are Muslim-majority countries.

Parts of the Ban are to go into effect on October 18th, and CAIR-Chicago will be hosting a rally at O’Hare International Airport along with allies and supporters to demand an end to the unjust Muslim Ban.
