🚨 TAKE ACTION THIS TUESDAY!

On Tuesday August 7th, Fuego, a branch of United We Dream will mobilize folks from all across Chicago with one clear message for ICE and the GEO Group: GET OUT, AND STAY OUT OF CHICAGO.

Just this May, the GEO Group—one of the largest for-profit prison and detention companies in the United States—expressed their interest in collaborating with ICE to build a new detention camp near Chicago in addition to the already existing ones in the midwest. This is a threat, again from this administration, to continue criminalizing and incarcerating undocumented and marginalized communities.

So, come on out and meet us at the corner of Congress Pkwy. and Clark St. this Tuesday at 6:30 PM to throw down across the street from the Chicago ICE office to make it loud and clear that people come before profit and that we will NOT stop until the we #AbolishICE =Take down the GEO Group.

Families Belong Together and Free

Daily mobilization times and programming to be announced soon!

**You do NOT have to fast/hunger strike in order to participate in this event!**

As the administration fails to meet the court-ordered deadline to reunite all families separated by the Zero Tolerance immigration policy, we say:

We demand that every migrant family separated by this administration be reunited and released from incarceration. We demand that the families receive support and justice for the trauma inflicted by our government.

We are launching a national rolling hunger strike in solidarity with migrant families who are still separated and/or incarcerated. We were inspired by the hunger strike of mothers inside Port Isabel Detention Center in Texas, who went on a rolling hunger strike after being denied the right to speak to their children and the awful conditions inside the detention center. Community members in one city after another will step up to fast for a few days at a time. As the fast ends in one city, it will pick up in another.

We are parents, we are elders, we are clergy members, we are volunteers, we are teachers. We are ordinary people who have decided that enough is enough. We will not silently watch government-sanctioned kidnapping and the torture of migrant families. We will not sit back and watch families torn apart, babies and toddlers deemed “ineligible” for reunification, children returned to their parents so traumatized they can’t speak, parents denied food, water, and medical care, children and women subjected to abuse and mockery. We stand against the criminalization and dehumanization of immigrant families.

We will continue our hunger strike and other solidarity actions until our demand is met.

The Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression calls upon all its allies, friends and all the various strands of the peoples’ movements to stand up to demand justice for Laquan McDonald, who was brutally shot 16 times execution style by Chicago Police Department officer Jason Van Dyke on the night of October 20, 2014.

The eyes of people around the country are on Chicago. This is the first time in the city’s history that a white police officer has been indicted for first degree murder for killing an unarmed Black person. But from the beginning, starting with the cover-up of the video recording of the murder by Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the entire system seems determined to not allow justice to prevail in this case. Without a movement, there is no guarantee of justice.

It is up to the people to make this the first time a white police officer has been indicted, tried and convicted of murdering a Black person. We must do this to end the cowardly, racist past practices where the police murder and brutalize us with impunity and bring about a new day of justice where police are held accountable for the crimes they commit against the people.

On September 5th, the Chicago Alliance calls for a mass protest outside the courthouse at 26th Street and California Avenue to begin at 8:00 a.m. We urge all organizations that want Justice for Laquan to endorse the call, and to join us.

NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE!
JUSTICE FOR LAQUAN!

On September 18, 2017, General Order 18.8A went into effect in Cook County. The order states that no person is to be locked up in Cook County Jail simply because they can’t afford to pay a money bond. Join the Coalition to End Money Bond, allies from across Cook County, and bail funds from around the country in downtown Chicago on September 18, 2025 as we demand full implementation of the order and an end to pretrial incarceration due to poverty.

In the first three months of the order’s implementation, the number of people incarcerated pretrial in Cook County Jail dropped by 1,400 people, but that decline quickly came to a halt. Now, almost one year after the order took effect, around 2,500 people are still incarcerated in Cook County Jail simply because they can’t afford to pay a money bond. This is in direct contradiction to General Order 18.8A’s directive.

Join us in holding this system accountable and bringing our people home!

Before coming to the rally, please sign & share this important petition in support of the fight to #EndMoneyBail in Cook County: bit.ly/endmoneybailcc

Learn more about MASK here: http://ontheblock.org/
“MASK (Mothers/Men Against Senseless Killings) was established in 2015 as a way to put eyes on the streets, interrupt violence and crime, and teach children to grow up as friends rather than enemies. A group of caring individuals in the community began to simply hang out on the block, cook food, and emanate love.”
