Join us in Chicago as fast food workers go ON STRIKE for union rights. This is the first strike we’re holding specifically to focus on union rights and the importance of unions. We’ll be joining a global week of strikes and rallies with airport, child care, hospital, adjunct professors, and other low wage workers.

This will kick off our month of canvasses leading up to election day. The strikes and canvasses follow a blitz of town halls and roundtable meetings workers in the Fight for $15 have held in 17 cities this year with members of Congress and state and local elected leaders focused on the need for lawmakers to make it easier for workers to organize in unions.

Chicago will host the nation’s only hearing where the U.S. EPA will seek public comment on the administration’s plan to repeal the Obama-era Clean Power Plan and replace it with Trump’s Dirty Power Plan. Trump’s “plan” has no concrete emission reduction goals or standards that would actually require dirty power plants to cut down on dangerous pollution.

Join Sierra Club, partner organizations, and concerned residents from across the country and rally for climate justice and a clean energy future for Illinois!

The hearing will be from 9am - 8pm at 77 W Jackson

FOR DOWNSTATE INTEREST:

We’ll be sending a bus to Chicago that starts in St Louis and stops in Alton and Springfield. Reserve your spot on a bus here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScVdp2NPpfbiSub1GSd9_jEwV2P7UqmjAOmyKMm0KF7rVb9Kw/viewform?usp=sf_link

For those driving: There are several parking lots near the Metcalfe Building, and a limited amount of metered street parking on Clark Street. The closest garage is at the south end of the building; you can enter it from Federal Street or Van Buren Street. Costs vary by garage and amount of time parked. After wrenching, credible testimony by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, angry and disrespectful testimony by Brett Kavanaugh, and a continued GOP refusal to call for an FBI investigation or subpoena key witnesses like Mark Judge, the Republican Party is racing to confirm Brett Kavanaugh. We need to mobilize NOW, before the full Senate votes early next week, to show senators that their constituents emphatically reject the elevation of Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court and respect Dr. Ford’s courage. This Friday, September 28th, (12p.m. local time) we will peacefully but resolutely gather at Senators’ offices to send a loud and clear message: BELIEVE SURVIVORS—and STOP KAVANAUGH.

By choosing to attend this event, you are committing to participate non-violently and in accordance with the law, to work to de-escalate confrontations with others, and behave lawfully to ensure the safety of event participants. You also acknowledge that you are solely responsible for any injury or damage to your person or property resulting from or occurring during this event, and that you release all event sponsors and organizers (and their officers, directors, employees, and agents) from any liability for that injury or damage.

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez have bravely come forward and shared their stories about sexual misconduct and assault at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Even though Dr. Blasey Ford has repeatedly stated her desire to testify and bravely share her story, Senate Republicans are doing everything they can to shame, bully, and force her to testify under their unacceptable, inappropriate conditions.

At 1 p.m. EST Monday, join us for a national walk-out to show our support for Dr. Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez. All you need to do is wear black and walk out - of your home, your office, your classroom, wherever you are - and post a picture to your social media with the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors.

If you can’t walk out, you can show your support by posting a video or a picture to this event. Help spread the word: we believe Dr. Blasey Ford. We believe Deborah Ramirez. We believe survivors. And we won’t stand for Senate Republicans’ despicable attempts to strong-arm a sexual assault survivor. If you are not able to walk out or are not able to safely walk out, please join the national moment and take a selfie or group photo and post on your social channels with the #BelieveSurvivors hashtag.

If you’re in Washington, D.C., join dozens of organizations in the Senate Hart Atrium at 12:30 pm EST. At 1pm EST, we’ll walk out of the atrium to the Supreme Court for a National Speakout.

Blasey Ford. Creemos a lxs sobrevivientes.

This Saturday, join us at Federal Plaza to stand in support of Christine Blasey Ford in the wake of her credible allegations that Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her.

We deserve better as women and we deserve better for the U.S. Supreme Court. It is critical to show that women are done being discredited when confronting their sexual assaulter.

Make a sign.
Bring a friend.
Let your voice be heard.
Show that you believe Christine Blasey Ford.

Due to the fast-pace of the Senate proceedings, this rally has been planned in less than 24 hours. We are unable to provide public restrooms or entertainment - The goal is to show Christine Ford, and the nation, that women are watching and support Ms. Ford.

*** This is a non-violent, peaceful rally. Please act in a responsibly and keep safety in mind at all times. The organizer(s) are not liable for any claims, criminal or civil, for organizing a public space for this event. We have contacted the Chicago Police to help ensure crowd safety. ***

After hurricane María devastated Puerto Rico the neglect of the US and Puerto Rico’s governments has left the Island in a dire state, with a confirmed death toll of over 2,965 people on top of a $73 billion debt. The Fiscal Control Board and the government have been playing with the livelihood of the most vulnerable Puerto Ricans by closing schools and basic services. This is outrageous. From Puerto Rico to New York, Boston, Phoenix, Orlando and Chicago, people are standing up for the dignity of Puerto Ricans.

Join us for this national day of action on the anniversary of the hurricane to demonstrate our indignation on the Federal Plaza on 230 S. Dearborn St. on September 20th at 5:00 PM. We will rally and march to call out these abuses and say #DecolonizePR, #YoNoComoAusteridad, #ConstruyamosOtraVida, #LaQuieroPublica, #SeAcabaronLasPromesas
