On March 15th, over 500 people marched and rallied with Chicago youth to put pressure on our politicians to take action to address climate change.

On May 3rd, we are striking again. We cannot lose any traction we have gained since the last strike. We need to make this strike bigger, lets shoot for a thousand people!

Students choosing to sacrifice their own education and miss school for a day gets people’s attention.

Meet at the southwest corner of Grant Park(or where the lolla main stage usually is) at 11AM on Friday, May 3rd. We will then march to Federal Plaza where a rally will be held featuring many speakers.

Join this fight. People of all ages are welcome, it is appropriate for little children too! We find that the youngest children who come make the biggest impact!

The Fraternal Order of Police is a racist organization that seeks to shield their members from accountability, stop all reforms to America’s racist criminal legal system and protect the pocketbooks of its membership.

The crime and violence in poor Black and brown communities are the direct result of slavery, Jim Crow and modern-day racist institutions.

We denounce racist policing and discriminatory incarceration practices, which are the wrong (and obviously racist) responses to crime and violence. We demand investment in Black and brown communities.

Hands off Assange, No Extradition!

Rally at 1 pm - 3 pm, Saturday, April 13, in front of the British Consulate (625 N. Michigan Ave.) to demand No Extradition of Julian Assange to Fascist America! Exposing War Crimes is Not a Crime! Free Chelsea Manning!

The arrest of Julian Assange and his indictment by the US is a major attack on journalism, independent media, and whistle blowers. The U.S. is attempting to prosecute - and persecute - a foreign journalist for “aiding and abetting” “espionage” simply for publishing unauthorized disclosures of its own criminal war activities. And all of this is going forward now as part of escalating a fascist program that includes assaults on the media (“fake news”), dissent, science and truth itself.

NOW is the time to say publicly NO! We refuse to accept a fascist America, in the name of humanity and the planet!

#FreeGeraldReed THIS FRIDAY Friday April 12th, 2019

8:30am PROTEST & PRESS CONFERENCE,
outside Cook County CourtHouse 2650 S California Ave, Chicago IL

9:30am PACK THE COURTROOM RM 604

Upcoming protest for #FreeGeraldReed, we must stand in solidarity with Gerald Reed’s family to demand that Gerald Reed be released immediately!

In Dec 2018 Judge Gainer overturned Gerald’s false conviction, ruling he was tortured by police into false confession. 28 yrs in prison for crime he did not commit, Gerald fought 26 yrs to finally get surgery to partially fix the extensive damage caused by the police torture

Special Prosecutors Milan, & his cohorts at the private law firm ORouke & Moody, are denying Gerald his constitutional right to bail. Gerald has spent the last 4 months in Cook County Jail, he has since a suffered mild heart attack and desperately needs a second operation so he can at least hope to walk again. Over the past weekend he was taken by ambulance to Stroger Hospital, after a very severe attack of flu with an intense fever (most recent diagnosis), he was returned to CCJ on Monday, very weak but thankfully feeling a bit better.

Since Gerald’s was conviction overturned, there has been 7 hearings of useless delays, SP Milan spent weeks apparently appealing Gainer’s ruling to the Appellate court, he has since withdrawn this appeal. Meanwhile Gerald’s torture continues and his health deteriorates. Attend the protest to demand that this active pursuit of injustice end immediately, then pack the courtroom!

Freedom & Justice for Gerald Reed and all the torture survivors

When educators are mistreated by the education system, students are mistreated as well.

This is why UIC undergraduate students are standing in solidarity with the GEO and fighting back: the quality of education depends on the well-being and fair treatment of educators.

Undergraduate students will be holding a rally with the GEO on Friday, April 5th at 12 p.m. outside at the quad. The American Spanish-speaking news network Univision will be present and reporting on the event.

Now that teachers assistants have walked out of the classroom, undergraduate students are losing out on their education. For this loss, undergraduates are demanding the administration to accommodate and make up for their educational needs during this conflict.

Standing up for graduate workers’ rights is fighting for a quality education that every student deserves! Come join us as we continue to raise our voices!

Tax Day Action for Tax Fairness!

April 15, 2025 - 4:45 PM

Loop, exact location TBD

Supporting Organizations: ONE Northside and Fair Economy Illinois

Visit Organizers' Event Webpage for Most Up-To-Date Info

WHEN: Tax Day, Monday April 15th, start time 4:45pm
WHERE: the Loop (exact location TBD)

WHY: Illinois has a tax problem: 2/3rds of corporations don’t pay any corporate income tax, and we lose $1.3 billion every year to offshore tax havens.

On Tax Day, everyday people are paying their fair share, but big corporations AREN’T!

J.B. Pritzker and Illinois legislators need to ACT NOW to end offshore tax havens and reform other notorious corporate tax loopholes in this year’s budget - the progressive income tax will go a long way to solve Illinois’ problems, but our communities can’t wait until 2021 when that revenue would come in. Join us and SHOW UP!

Mike Pence is speaking at the Hyatt Regency in Rosemont Friday night at a conference of reactionary students (Turning Point USA), and Trump spoke in Grand Rapids, his first Nuremburg rally since the Mueller report was released. They are going full throttle on the offensive, demanding investigations of their critics, calling for resignations, and blacklisting by the media. All this while concentration camps are set up in public view under bridges in Texas, public opinion is being mobilized to take military action against Venezuela, and women’s rights to abortion and birth control are hanging by a thread. And they are rousing their base to press forward with their fascist agenda.

Turning Point is a reactionary “student” organization that has been organizing on campuses around the fascist agenda including “free speech” for fascists, which means shutting down anything progressive.

Join us in delivering message to Trump, Pence and Turning Point AND to all the people who hate what this regime is doing but have diverted, bamboozled, and stupefied people into waiting passively… Now Is the Time to Act!

The Trump/Pence Regime Is More Dangerous Than Ever. It Must Be Driven From Power By Sustained Mass Protest By the People.
