Join the March for Truth, Saturday June 3, 2017 where citizens will gather to demand more accountability and transparency from their federal, state and local elected officials. A successful democracy requires Truth, transparency, openness and the rule of law. This march will tell our elected officials that we will not tolerate corruption, lies and the abuse of our trust.

Foreign interests are undermining our elections. Billions are of dollars are lost to corruption and graft. The incidents of harassment against women and minorities are on the rise but are downplayed by an administration pushing the lies of “alternative facts.”

Our Priorities:
Demand an independent investigation into Russian interference in our election process.
Demand an honest accounting of the Trump administration’s conflict of interests.
Demand the Department of Justice continue to investigate police abuse against minorities and sexual harassment in the workplace.

We must sound the alarm. Last night, Donald Trump fired FBI Director James Comey, who was leading an open criminal investigation into Trump’s possible collusion with Russia to sway the November election and it’s a terrifying last straw.

MoveOn members, allies, and Americans of all walks of life are converging on district Senate offices all across the country at 5:00 p.m. local time to make some noise until we get the truth about Trump and his cadre of advisors and their web of financial and foreign entanglements.

Can you make it to Senator Durbin’s office today at 5:00 p.m.?

Our ask: Congress must establish an independent commission to investigate Trump. (One that he can’t fire!)

Invite family and friends join you.
Bring pots. Bang pans. Honk horns.

Bring signs. Be visible.

Use the hashtag #ComeyGate to send out pictures, videos, and Facebook Live footage. Make sure to tag @MoveOn and our team will amplify your good work to make sure your members of Congress see the outrage of their constituents.

By choosing to attend this event, you are acknowledging the risks involved, and you are committing to participate non-violently and in accordance with the law, and to work to de-escalate confrontations with opposing persons or others. You agree (i) not to engage in any act of violence or violation of any applicable law and (ii) to obey the orders of authorized event marshals and law enforcement authorities.

SEE ANNOUNCEMENT BELOW REGARDING CANCELLATION OF THIS EVENT

We’re at the 10th Action in our current campaign at Women’s March,#PledgeOfLiberation. You can find out more about the 10th action in the 10 Actions/100 Day Campaign here: www.womensmarch.com/pledge

The final action in Women’s March’s 10 Actions / 100 Days Campaign, Pledge of Liberation, harnesses the power of cross-movement collaboration. Over the course of the next week, we are mobilizing our communities to sign a Pledge of Liberation—a declaration of allegiance to each other. Together, activists around the country from every movement sector will unite on May 8 and hold demonstrations at in-district congressional offices and the offices of other elected officials.

Women’s March, in partnership with ACLU People Power, United We Dream, Hollaback!, The Gathering for Justice, and other national and local partners, will take our resistance directly to our members of Congress and elected officials. We will send a clear message that we no longer accept hollow reforms or compromises that help some of our communities but harm others. On May 8, we will hold demonstrations in solidarity with communities around the country and collectively fight for dignity, justice and freedom.

We are all part of one movement, and we are not only stronger and more powerful together—our unity is how we survive as people, organizations, and movements. We cannot pledge allegiance to an administration that oppresses and harms us. Instead, we pledge allegiance to the liberation of all people. We pledge allegiance to each other. Just as we pledge our allegiance to each other, we will remind our members of Congress of their allegiance to us—the voters. We ask that this allegiance come in the form of a federal budget that reflects the values five million people marched for on January 21, 2017.

ANNOUNCEMENT: WE ARE CANCELING THIS EVENT! We truly apologize for the inconvenience, but we feel that Monday’s focus should only be on protesting our Congressmen who voted “YES” to the disastrous AHCA bill. Women’s March has shifted the #PledgeOfLiberation campaign’s focus to the ACA Repeal, and at this moment, we think it’s best to go after our Republican Illinois Congressmen who voted against the safety and protection of Illinoisans!

We have a protest at Peter Roskam’s office, which will be the closest to the city. Please JOIN US THERE! The event can be found under “EVENTS” tab on the Women’s March Illinois page: www.facebook.com/womensmarchillinois

Please share and RSVP to that!

March on McDonald’s ~ Fight for $15

McDonald’s has changed a lot about its business lately – but it hasn’t changed the way it treats workers. We still get paid so little that we have to rely on food stamps and public assistance to raise our families. We still face sexual harassment on the job, and get money stolen from our paychecks.

And it’s not just McDonald’s workers that are hurt by the company’s way of doing business. McJobs cost us all.

As the biggest fast-food company, McDonald’s sets the bar for pay and working conditions throughout the fast-food industry and beyond. McDonald’s way of doing business is holding EVERYONE back.

Its model of low wages is now what we find in every industry — like home care, child care, airports, universities and more.

McDonald’s low wages cost taxpayers more than $1 billion a year, because more than half of us are forced to rely on public assistance to support our families.

We know McDonald’s can afford $15 an hour and union rights. The company doubled its CEO’s pay last year to $15 million. It’s spending hundreds of millions on a new headquarters in downtown Chicago.

And so ahead of McDonald’s shareholder meeting, workers in all industries are coming together to demand that McDonald’s use its massive economic power to lift up working families across the economy instead of dragging them down.

Join us for a massive march on McDonald’s in Chicago May 23!

Deportation Solidarity Action

Just this week we learned that Trump’s inhumane Border Patrol agents deported a young man, Juan Manuel Montes, who has the right to live and work in the United States under DACA, a program that is supposed to protect undocumented immigrant youth from deportation. Will you join us and hold a vigil outside of the local ICE Field Office on Saturday? You can bring signs, leave notes, flowers – anything to show your compassion and support for the immigrant families and communities being targeted under this Administration. Let us stand in solidarity with the victims of Trump’s deportation agenda. **UPDATE: This event has been moved from Saturday, April 22 to Sunday, April 23.*
