Jeff Sessions, exposed during confirmation proceedings for his racist actions and beliefs, is now the Attorney General. As head of the Dept. of Justice (DOJ), Sessions is the chief law enforcement officer in the U.S. He is opposed to the Voting Rights Act and to legislation protecting LGBTQ people and undocumented workers. Trump’s recent executive order gives Sessions free rein to enact the most racist andoppressive criminal legal policies. A license to unleash even more state violence against dissent, to criminalize the Black Lives Matter movement, the Indigenous Peoples’ movement at Standing Rock, the struggle for Immigrant rights and all progressive people’s movements.

On Jan 13, 2017 the DOJ released it’s damning report on the Chicago Police Dept (CPD), establishing an arsenal of facts proving CPD, the Mayor’s office, and City Hall to be racist, corrupt, and unwilling to hold the police accountable when they murder and brutalize Black and Latino communities. Sessions will deep-six the report as well as the many cases of police crimes filed by the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
WE HAVE TO PROTEST NOW – DOJ WE WON’T GO BACK!

Int’l Women’s Day March for Equal Rights, Justice & Power!

A Women’s place is in the struggle. A grassroots Women’s movement can defeat the Trump agenda and so we are going to keep taking to the streets of this country to fight against sexism, white supremacy, anti-LGBTQ oppression and war.

Women and people from all communities will gather at Trump Tower at 12 noon on Sat., March 11 and march through the streets of downtown Chicago to Michigan and Congress where we will hold a people’s speak out to say we will keep building the resistance.

Unite and Fight! All Our Struggles Are One! We want to help build a broad, united movement that can defeat patriarchy and put the rich white men who run this country on notice that the streets, schools, work places and so much more belong to the people.

On March 12, let’s shut down discrimination against people based on their gender and gender expression. Let’s shut down violence against women and all oppressed people. Let’s defend Planned Parenthood and expand Women’s rights. Let’s demand: “Equal pay and universal health care now or we are going to shut this country down!”

We solidarize with all actions that are taking place around Chicago, the United States and the world around International Women’s Day. We join the resistance against the Trump regime of racists, planet destroyers, america firsters and vile bigots. We are with #NoDAPL and BLM.

The resistance in the streets must continue in the biggest numbers possible. The resistance must be every day and everywhere. This is no time to stay at home. This is no time to stay inside. This is the time come out for united mass actions in defense of immigrants, Muslims, women, LGBTQ people, workers, poor people, people of color and all those who are under attack.

This protest is being organized by Women of ANSWER Chicago. Want to help build this protest? Are you in an organization that would like to build the protest with us? Do you want to volunteer? Message one of the organizers!

All Power to All Women! All Power to the People! We Will Not Be Silenced! We Will Stand Our Ground and Fight Back!

Stand with Students – Rally of Support for Transgender Youth

Parents for Privacy aligned with Alliance for Defending Freedom (a hate group according to the SPLC), last year and sued District 211 for allowing a transgender girl access to the female locker room. They have been emboldened by the actions in Washington that have left schools without federal guidance on the treatment of transgender students and are officially after District 15. They will be at the March 8th D15 school board meeting to express their disapproval that students are currently allowed in bathrooms that match their gender identity.

Our community is a place of acceptance and tolerance. We need to show support for transgender students and the school board that passed inclusive policies for them. The kids needs to see they have not been left behind. There is a vocal minority here that does not represent us. Let’s show up in numbers to make it clear that hate and intolerance have no place in our schools or community.

We are simply asking that you stand in solidarity outside the meeting. We will pass out small banners for everyone to make it clear who we are there to support. We will not be loud, obnoxious, argumentative, or disruptive to the meeting in any way. Please do not engage the P4P members. Of course if you feel you must attend the actual meeting I won’t tell you its the wrong thing to do; follow your heart.

This is not a protest, but a rally of support. We show our numbers, we show our love, we show our support, we SHOW UP.
