(Español abajo) Please join Alderwoman Maria Hadden, Protect RP, Network 49 and your neighbors as we stand with El Paso and Dayton and say no to hate, racism, white nationalism, domestic terrorism and gun violence. While this didn’t happen in Rogers Park, we all feel the impact of this week’s violence- and we need to stand in solidarity with those who lost loved ones this week and share space with one another. Some flowers will be provided so people can release petals into the lake in remembrance of those lost and in the hope of working together towards a better future. Feel free to bring your own candle or flower. MEET AT: Tobey Prinz Beach Park in the area straight north of the tennis courts.

After the white supremacist murders in El Paso…after the concentration camps on the border and the torture of children… after “send them back”…

WHICH SIDE ARE YOU ON?

Are you on the side of white supremacy and fascism? Or are you on the side of ending this oppression?

The horror now going on will not be solved by “gun control.” The problem is this imperialist system, the white supremacy that is knitted into its every fibre, and the fact that there are too many guns in the hands of those fighting for fascism and not enough fighting spirit among the people who say they oppose it. Every person who has a conscience and cares about humanity really does have to get off their ass, stop waiting for 2020 (which won’t begin to touch the problem anyway), stop being complicit, and do something NOW.

Stand With The Immigrants! Basta Ya! No More!!!

In The Name of Humanity,
We REFUSE to Accept A Fascist America!
Drive Out The Trump-Pence Fascist Regime!

We are the REVOLUTION CLUB, and we are working to overthrow that system through mass revolution, aiming at the emancipation of all humanity from all forms of oppression. We stand and fight for:
Revolution—NOTHING LESS!
We Want A World Without Borders,
And The Emancipation of Humanity!

We are recruiting for that revolution right now, to move toward the time when can get rid of this. And we are also supporting the movement to unite millions right now to drive out this fascist regime with massive, sustained, nonviolent resistance, as called for by Refuse Fascism, and we call on everyone to take a stand against this white supremacist madness!

Brannigan claims that she apologized! We say: False, politically-motivated apologies are NOT Accepted! A true, sincere apology would be resigning immediately! Brannigan claims she is learning from her mistakes, yet, she and the entire Township board failed to condemn White Supremacist mass shootings around the country, and did not condemn the racist Facebook posts posted by the IL GOP Chairman’s Association a few weeks back.

On August 12th, at 6PM we will attend the monthly general meeting and call out the board for the lack of action on important issues. JOIN US!

Trump/Pence Regime Must GO! Contingent in Bud Billiken

Join the “Trump/Pence Regime Must GO!” contingent at Bud Billiken, the largest parade in an African American community in the entire US.

We march this year as the Trump Pence regime’s white supremacy goes to depraved new depths. Restraints taken off murdering cops. Migrant children tortured on the border. Trump spews racist “send them back” and calls Baltimore a “rat and rodent infested mess.”

This is straight out of the classic playbook and program of fascism, which terrorizes whole sections of society while tearing down laws and institutions in its way. Refuse Fascism marched in the Bud Billiken parade the last two years and received an enthusiastic, welcoming response.

We march this year to call on people to get organized, taking inspiration from Puerto Rico, to launch sustained, creative, non-violent mass protests as soon as possible with one unifying demand: The Trump/Pence Regime Must GO!

All who hate the nightmares this regime is inflicting on women, LGBTQ people, the environment, global humanity, and its ripping apart of basic rights, JOIN US. Bring your posters, your noisemakers and drums, your friends, and your organization.

We are contingent #195, and we meet at 33rd and King Dr. as close to 10 am as you can get there!

If your organization wants to co-sponsor, you have questions or want to carpool with others, please email chicago@refusefascism.org.

FreeHeartlandKids Friday Action

Heartland Alliance, 208 S La Salle St, Chicago, Illinois 60604

Supporting Organizations: Chicago Democratic Socialists of America

Hundreds of immigrant children are being detained in our backyard. Heartland Alliance is a Chicago-based nonprofit org that has historically focused on anti-poverty and immigration issues. Heartland currently operates 5 child detention centers and, until recently, 2 in Des Plaines. Currently, over 350 children are detained by Heartland.

The Chicago DSA Immigrants Rights Committee is fighting back.

Join us to continue demanding that Heartland and CEO David Sinski:
1. immediately cease intaking immigrant children into their detention centers;
2. immediately end their contract with the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) at the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to detain immigrant children;
3. release and reunify the immigrant children in their physical custody with their sponsors and families in the United States as soon as possible without sharing those sponsors’ and families’ biometric data, documentation status, or any other personal information with ICE or any agency that shares information with ICE;
4. pledge to use their resources and power to fight for a true detention-free, deportation-free, and ICE-free zone in Chicago and the Chicagoland area.

This is a nonviolent action. We especially do not want to put participants who may be vulnerable on account of their documentation status at risk of arrest during this action. Ultimately, of course, the relevant authorities are responsible for how they choose to respond to our nonviolent action, but it is important that participants understand that a nonviolent action is what the the Free Heartland Kids campaign is engaging in for this week.

ALL ARE WELCOME! We will have signs, banners, leaflets, petitions, chants, and more depending on the time and day. You can show up with nothing but your principles, and we will have material and information to offer you. If you would like to bring your own signs, banners, leaflets, petitions, chants, and more, we welcome them!

Justice for Joshua: the fight continues

November 5, 2016 Joshua Beal was murdered by officers Joseph Treacy and Thomas Derouin while on his way to bury his cousin. Treacy and Derouin were in plainclothes when they stopped the funeral procession and began a confrontation with family members. Treacy and Derouin claimed that they informed the family that they were officers, but witnesses – including 25 911 callers – say they never heard this. June 13, 2019, nearly 3 years later, COPA ruled that Beal’s murder was justified. Between the two of them, they have over 50 complaints against them. CPD has murdered 7 people so far this year, that’s three more than the number of people murdered in 2018. We cannot become complacent. We fought long and hard for justice for Laquan, but the fight doesn’t end with him. We have to keep going. We’re gonna keep fighting. We’re not taking the pressure off.

Join us in demanding justice for Joshua Beal, August 22nd, 2019 at 6:30 PM for a rally outside of the month’s police board meeting. We’ll start the rally off at 35th and King Drive, then make our way to the police headquarters on 35th and Michigan just before the meeting starts.

Demands:

We demand the case of the murder of Joshua Beal be reopened.
We demand that the killer cops who murdered Joshua – Joseph Treacy and Thomas Derouin – be fired from the force, indicted and convicted.
We demand that Officer Rialmo – the cop responsible for the murders of Bettie Jones and Quintonio LeGrier – be fired, indicted, and convicted.
No more impunity for killer cops! CPAC Now!

We first rallied in front of the police headquarters last month and will meet there EVERY MONTH at the police board meeting until our demands are met and until the police stop murdering us without consequence. Join us in demanding justice for Joshua, Bettie, Quintonio, and all black lives!
