The GOP “TrumpCare” plan would tear away health care from 24 million people over the next 10 years, defund Planned Parenthood, destroy Medicaid, and raise insurance premiums—and Republicans are hoping to pass it in the next 18 days.

We can stop them and save our health care, if we raise our voices in unprecedented ways. That’s why constituents will gather outside the district offices of nine Republican Senators and 23 Republican Representatives who hold the decisive votes for peaceful “Stakeouts to Save Our Health Care” from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. this Thursday and Friday, March 16 and 17, when members of Congress return home for a scheduled “district work period”.

We’ll make sure that anyone coming in or out of the office—staff, visitors, the members of Congress themselves—have to come face to face with us, their constituents. Bring medical-themed props (slings, crutches, scrubs, stethoscopes), bring home-made signs, and bring your stories, your anger, and your hope!

The Washington Post reported that the Trump administration will propose cutting $6 billion, or 14%, from the HUD budget. Cuts that severe will cause millions of people to lose their housing assistance, and will dramatically increase homelessness across the country.

Please join us at our action on 3/21 to fight back and send a clear message about the importance of funding for housing, and to connect Trump to the people whose interests he is REALLY serving — corporations and billionaires!!!

Day 48 of the Resistance: Protest the revised Muslim Ban!

On March 16th, 2017, Trump’s new version of the Muslim Ban will go into effect across the United States. The new ban still affects people from 6 Arab, Muslim, and African countries, including Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Iran, and Syria. While the trump administration has tried to apply cosmetic changes by excluding legal permanent residents and those who already have visas, one thing is clear–It is Still a Muslim Ban.

The new ban is cloaked in the same xenophobic, Anti-Arab, and Anti-Muslim language of the first. In attacking our communities with the language of the War on Terror, it is clear that the goal is to further target and criminalize our communities through racism.

This ban also comes on the heels of the ramping up of ICE activity as a result of the DHS memos on immigration enforcement. These dangerous memos have created a climate of repression and fear across immigrant communities in the U.S., especially Mexicans and Central Americans. This is why the Chicago welcoming city ordinance amendments, now in the city council, are so important to be passed.

Lastly, this ban also comes as the DOJ, led by racist Jeff Sessions, has promised to further criminalize protests, and take the gloves off local police departments, like Chicago’s, allowing them to get away with their brutality and crimes.

For these reasons, we say join us on March 16th at 4:30pm at 101 W Congress Parkway in downtown Chicago, as we so NO to the Muslim Ban, NO to ICE raids, and NO to the criminalization of Black communities and protest.

Jeff Sessions, exposed during confirmation proceedings for his racist actions and beliefs, is now the Attorney General. As head of the Dept. of Justice (DOJ), Sessions is the chief law enforcement officer in the U.S. He is opposed to the Voting Rights Act and to legislation protecting LGBTQ people and undocumented workers. Trump’s recent executive order gives Sessions free rein to enact the most racist andoppressive criminal legal policies. A license to unleash even more state violence against dissent, to criminalize the Black Lives Matter movement, the Indigenous Peoples’ movement at Standing Rock, the struggle for Immigrant rights and all progressive people’s movements.

On Jan 13, 2017 the DOJ released it’s damning report on the Chicago Police Dept (CPD), establishing an arsenal of facts proving CPD, the Mayor’s office, and City Hall to be racist, corrupt, and unwilling to hold the police accountable when they murder and brutalize Black and Latino communities. Sessions will deep-six the report as well as the many cases of police crimes filed by the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression.
