Join us THIS Saturday, May 8th, at the Federal Plaza to strongly condemn Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinian residents from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied East Jerusalem.

We reject the rulings of the high court that appropriate their ancestral lands to Jewish settlers, and stand united against this most recent indefensible and inhumane development in the Zionist colonization of Palestine.

Co-sponsors include:Coalition for Justice in Palestine – Chicago, United States Palestinian Community Network, American muslims for Palestine, Palestinian Youth Movement, CodePink, Yemeni Liberation Movement, Yemeni Alliance Committee, Stand with Kashmir, Al-Nahda

Ahead of mother’s day this year, we’re boosting the call to #FreeThemAll, by uplifting the resilience and profound struggles of moms of the incarcerated, incarcerated mamas, and caregivers and loved ones fighting to end the violence of incarceration across the state. On Friday May 7th, activists will be gathering for a small rally to share stories of mamas fighting to free their loved ones and themselves, then deliver a giant Mother’s Day Card to the Governor, with messages to #FreeTheMoms, #FreeTheKids and #FreeThemAll!

Our demands:
-Restore contact visits and end the lockdowns!
-Sign clemencies on your desk and free our loved ones!
-Cancel the plans to build a new youth prison in Illinois and #StopLDC!

We encourage people to arrive early as parking is difficult in the area. We will be gathering beginning at 10:30 AM Near the Statue of Greene Vardiman Black, 29 E. North Blvd in the Gold Coast, at the southeast corner of Lincoln Park near Lakeshore Drive.

Can’t join us in person on Friday May 7th at 11 AM to sign and deliver the card? Simply fill out the form below and we’ll add your name and message to the card before the action.

This action comes as part of a national week of action to #FreeThemAll with AFSC:

We also encourage folks to attend the 8th annual Mother’s Day Vigil on Saturday, May 8th:

***COVID is still a very real threat, so we are asking anyone who attends to do their best to maintain social distancing and wear a mask at all times. Extra masks will be available.***

This action is co-sponsored by American Friends Service Committee Chicago, The End the IL Prison Lockdown Coalition, MAMAS (Mamas activating movement for abolition and solidarity), and Moms United Against Violence and Incarceration!

Join Moms United and friends for the 8th Annual Mother’s Day vigil outside Cook County Jail. We will honor (with/as) mamas inside and out. We will CELEBRATE survival, and uplift freedom fights.

We will safely distance and strongly encourage double-masking if you can.

We strongly encouraged mamas who’ve been inside, advocates/organizers leading freedom campaigns for loved ones to speak. Reach out to if that’s you! Please also reach out with any ideas or concerns!

If you represent an organization that would like to co-sponsor this event, GREAT! Reach out!

All ages are welcome!

There are no stairs, but the grass median can be harder to navigate when wet, so please reach out if you would like to confirm some support and solidarity around mobility.

Neurological diversity is expected and welcome. That should go without saying, but we need to keep saying it!

Moms United is committed to the abolition of prisons and police, and if that’s not where you’re at, but support survivors and want to learn more, know that you are very welcome!

We will share an online donation page for phone funds and toiletries for survivors inside. We will also share drop-off locations for local donations, as well as action steps to #FreeThem #FreeThemAll

“ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. With the police violence that has been occurring across the county, and specifically the murder of Daunte Wright and Adam Toledo most recently, it is time for us to again push for major reforms to the CPD. Last year there were incredible demonstrations across the country and we cannot let the momentum fade. Join us in making our collective voice heard across the city and nation that we will not stand idly by while vulnerable communities are terrorized and brutalized by racist and militarized police.

It’s only when we work together to build a movement that we can create change. We need your voice, your power, and your energy. PLEASE SHARE THE EVENT WHEREVER YOU CAN! If you would like to speak, or if you are part of an organization that would like to help plan the protest, please DM or email Sanjee Choudhuri (
