Nationwide Action

This is a national event – there are no Chicago rallies/marches scheduled. However, there are ways to support this action regardless of location:

Top 5 Ways to #PinkOut

Pink Out Day is time for reproductive rights supporters to show their defiance against the relentless attacks on Planned Parenthood. It’s a day to show anti-women’s health politicians that we will fight like hell to protect our 2.5 million patients a year and the 1 in 5 women that will go to Planned Parenthood in her life.

It’s a day for people to unite and say: We resist. We are strong. And we’re not backing down — not today, not ever.

Additionally, for those out in Downer’s Grove, a group is planning on being present outside the local clinic.

Federal Plaza, 50 W. Adams St., Chicago, IL

Washington DC is repealing the Affordable Care Act and dismantling Medicaid, Governor Rauner clings to irresponsible and harmful policies without a state budget, along with many additional issues impacting people with disabilities across Chicago, Illinois, the Midwest Region of the United States and the entirety of the United States, are just some of the reasons why we must gather together in force to resist the civil rights-stripping governments we face in every corner of our country, local, state and federal.

Speakers featured at the Rally will represent as many of the different cross-sections of our community, including Black, Latino and Latina, immigrants, queer siblings, women and individuals with varying types of disabilities. Worker rights, Black Lives, Trans Lives, Deaf Lives; they and all of us are at risk.

Together, we can demonstrate our Power in Community, Power in Identity, Power in Choice and Power in Our Very Lives.

Please reach out to us if you’re interested in speaking or know someone who would be a great speaker. Also reach out if you require an accommodation.

ASL and Spanish interpreters will be available.

UPDATE:

We are receiving word that the Paul Ryan Fundraiser at the Chicago Club has been cancelled for now. Nonetheless, yesterday over 1,000 people came out to the streets of Chicago to defend healthcare, and to resist the new attacks being initiated by the disastarous healthcare bill. It was an excellent beginning, but we want to keep up the pressure and stay in the streets.

So tonight, instead of the Chicago Club, please join us at Trump Tower at 4PM to continue standing against the Trump regime, and to stand up for healthcare as a human right that should not be subject to the whims of a right-wing congress!

Tell Gov. Rauner: Do Your Job!

Stop Holding Illinois Hostage—Pass A Fair Budget Now!
Don’t Dictate, Negotiate a Fair Contract with State Workers!

Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner is hosting a “Governor’s Dinner” to raise money for himself and other Republican politicians—charging $40,000 for a “Gold Level” private reception.

We won’t be buying any tickets, but we’ll be there—to tell Governor Rauner to “DO YOUR JOB, negotiate with state workers and sign a budget now!”

Join Illinois Working Together, the Chicago Federation of Labor, AFSCME Council 31, SEIU Illinois, the Illinois Federation of Teachers, Citizen Action/Illinois and more.

For two years, Rauner has failed to propose a balanced budget and refused to work with legislators on a compromise. From students to seniors, he’s holding hostage the people of Illinois.

Meanwhile, Rauner has failed to settle contracts with five unions that represent the overwhelming majority of women and people of color in state government. For the past year he’s refused to negotiate at all with AFSCME, the largest union of public service workers in state government, instead pushing to impose his harsh terms!

Congressional Stakeouts To Save Health Care – West Chicago, IL

The GOP “TrumpCare” plan would tear away health care from 24 million people over the next 10 years, defund Planned Parenthood, destroy Medicaid, and raise insurance premiums—and Republicans are hoping to pass it in the next 18 days.

We can stop them and save our health care, if we raise our voices in unprecedented ways. That’s why constituents will gather outside the district offices of nine Republican Senators and 23 Republican Representatives who hold the decisive votes for peaceful “Stakeouts to Save Our Health Care” from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. this Thursday and Friday, March 16 and 17, when members of Congress return home for a scheduled “district work period”.

We’ll make sure that anyone coming in or out of the office—staff, visitors, the members of Congress themselves—have to come face to face with us, their constituents. Bring medical-themed props (slings, crutches, scrubs, stethoscopes), bring home-made signs, and bring your stories, your anger, and your hope!
