Every year the Antis gather to rejoice in their hatred of women. We will be there to show our support for CHOICE! We aren’t there to make speeches. To talk to press. We believe that it is every woman’s RIGHT to decide what is right for HER.

The Antis will flood their corner w the color yellow. So we will wear purple to show our support for equal rights. Bring whatever sign you want to hold. Or come as a Handmaid.

Last year we stood on the corner across the street from the Antis & will do that again this year. If you have any questions you can email

Join CAARPR for the 4th Black Friday Boycott rally on the Mag Mile!

The first boycott sent the powers that be into a tailspin. Thousands of people not only taking to the streets but shutting down the biggest shopping day of the year angered Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s wealthy friends and forced the Mayor to bend to the movement for justice. It was our continued pressure that led to the removal of those responsible for the cover up of the murder of Laquan McDonald. And it was this movement that organized and demanded the conviction of Jason Van Dyke.

But our work isn’t finished. CPD continues to terrorize the city’s Black and brown communities. The Police Board’s decision to reinstate Officer Brandon Ternand, who shot and murdered Dakota Bright in 2012 from a distance of 50 feet as the unarmed 15-year-old was running away, shows the utter bankruptcy of the current system and the necessity for an all-elected Civilian Police Accountability Council (CPAC).

CAARPR is calling for all CPAC supporters to come out for the 4th Black Friday Boycott at 10am on the Mag Mile. We aren’t finished until Dakota Bright’s killer is held accountable. We aren’t finished until we see justice for ALL victims of police murder. We aren’t finished until we have community control of the police to put an end to police violence for good!

If you ever had the good fortune of knowing Jemel Roberson you’d remember his infectious laugh; the permanent grin from ear to ear; plus, you would have spotted his head above any crowd. Jemel was my friend, and the rest of them now are at a loss. My heart also aches deeply for his family, significant other and their child. I fully respect their privacy at this time, but I’d love to show them his Lane family has their back too.

We don’t know how to make any sense of this because we can’t, so I invite you to this vigil to know that you’re not the only ones.
Lane’s Principal Brian Tennison has our full support to host this in front of the stadium, on the Addison side. Even if you didn’t go to Lane all are welcome! Please RSVP, I’d like to do a balloon release, and would encourage anyone attending to bring balloons, a sign, a candle, etc.

I know it’s getting colder and darker earlier, but I’d love to hold this for anyone who needs the space to do so.

For anyone who doesn’t already know what happened to our friend:

Join us as we demand:
The Alderman, Mayor, and University of Chicago Sign Onto a CBA Ordinance to stop displacement and invest in affordable housing and job training.

As the University of Chicago builds a new luxury hotel, dorm, conference center, as rents are rising, half of the current Woodlawn population is at risk of being pushed out. We are demanding the introduction and passage of a CBA ordinance which would set aside 30% of new housing as real affordable housing, provide property tax relief for long time residents, and require developers like the University of Chicago invest in affordable housing and job training.

This is a case of police torture. Gerald Reed has been in prison for 28 years. His case was confirmed by the Torture Inquiry and Relief Commission (TIRC) ( In Gerald’s case this is what TIRC stated “Pursuant to 775 ILCS 40/45(c) and 2 Ill. Adm. Code 3500.385(b), it is the decision of the
Commission that, by a preponderance of the evidence, there is sufficient evidence of torture to conclude the Claim is credible and merits judicial review for appropriate relief. ”

Many of you fought so hard for brothers and sisters to be afforded with hearings on their claims of torture. Come and stand with Gerald’s mom, Armanda Schackleford, in the courtroom as she seeks the release of her son Gerald who she has been separated from her son for over 29 years of his life.
