On the Anniversary of white supremacist Trump’s inauguration, we will take to the streets again to shut down racism, war & bigotry and save the planet. Join us. We must and will keep marching and fighting and building the people’s movement for the real and lasting changes that are so badly needed!

Multiple looming crises are confronting the human race and we must and will take collective action.

We have 12 years to save the planet.
We must resist the divide and conquer strategies of the rulers of this country and build solidarity with the refugees who are bearing the brunt of these increasingly reactionary times.
The U.S. foreign policy elite — in a thoroughly bipartisan way — is aggressively leading us toward confrontations with major nuclear powers.
Naked white supremacy and fascism are again emerging in the centers of power from Brazil to the United States to Europe and beyond.
Austerity has wrecked the working class and oppressed communities.
Abortion rights must be defended and so much more.

The people must and will reemerge as an unstoppable force in society to shut down racism, war & bigotry. Bring your signs, banner and voices of protest!

Gather at Wacker and Wabash at 12 noon. March to La Salle St (Chicago’s Wall Street)

To cosponsor or endorse protest, message https://www.facebook.com/ANSWERChicago/ or respond to this event!

Pro-Choice Counter Protest: Making fun of antis at the clinic

The “pro life Christmas caroling” time of year is upon us. At these events, antis come out to belt out songs about baby jesus and Mary in an attempt to dissuade people from accessing abortion.

Joke’s on them because this clinic doesn’t even provide abortions on saturdays, and instead will be performing foot surgeries and other podiatry related services. Hence, this protest is foot condition themed – “ingrown toenails are a gift from god!” “I regret my bunionectomy!” and graphic photos of foot surgery. Bring your best foot puns!

We have permission from the clinic to counter protest on this day and help keep the antis from parking or stepping in to their private parking lot or otherwise messing with things. We expect the antis will spend 45 minutes or less there.

In the early hours of November 11, Jemel Roberson was gunned down by Midlothian Police as he was subduing a shooting suspect and while working as a security guard at Manny’s Blue Room. Jemel was 26-year-old son, father and hero who saved countless lives that night only to be senselessly murdered by cops.

We must stay vigilant to ensure #JUSTICEFORJEMEL. Please join us at the Midlothian Board of Trustee Meeting to demand answers and police accountability in the south suburbs.

NOTE: location change due to the weather!

Chicago’s heart is with the Central American exodus trapped in Tijuana. This march will join with dozens of demonstrations nationwide as we answer a call to action from a coalition of organizations based in San Diego and Tijuana. Their statement reads in part:

“We call for an action on November 25th to commemorate the anniversary of the 2017 Honduran election stolen by the US government-backed, right-wing military dictator Juan Orlando Hernández (JOH). We are demonstrating on this day to acknowledge and draw attention to the current social and political crises driving the exodus from Central America. We understand that these crises—drug wars, military coups, destruction of indigenous lands for the benefit of corporations, and environmental catastrophe in the region—are all symptoms of US foreign policy, corporate profiteering and war-making.

“Moreover, we see that the Trump administration is creating a warlike atmosphere against the caravan. It should be clear that they are not just acting with the support of a cabinet of white supremacists and a majority GOP in the Senate but are also emboldened by the last few decades of bipartisan militarization of the border, mass raids, expansion of for-profit detention centers, and mass deportations—with more than 2.5 million migrants under Obama and Trump alone. Further, these policies are a continuation of a long history of anti-Indigenous colonial violence and genocide.”

On Wednesday November 21st at 6:00pm, local organizations and members of the medical community will gather at Federal Plaza for a candlelight vigil and rally against gun violence after the shooting at Mercy Hospital on Monday. We will honor the lives of Doctor Tamara O’Neal, Officer Samuel Jimenez, and pharmaceutical resident Dayna Less.

We will be standing in solidarity with the doctors, nurses, and workers of Mercy Hospital as well as the Chicago Police Department. We can put an end to gun and domestic violence, it has no place in our communities, schools, places of worship or hospitals. Join us to mourn, pray, and stand in solidarity. Gun violence is a public health issue, and doctors also want to see an end to the daily bloodshed caused by firearms across the country.
