This month marks one year since the COVID-19 virus began taking the lives of people incarcerated in Cook County Jail. Join us on the one year anniversary of Nickolas Lee’s passing to lift up the memories of the lives lost to the virus inside CCJ and to continue to fight for everyone who remains incarcerated there.
The pandemic magnified the harm CCJ has been causing our communities for decades. On this anniversary we are issuing a call to decarcerate Cook County Jail, invest in our communities and for Sheriff Tom Dart to step down.
This action will include a rally and march outside Division 5 (27th & California) and a car caravan. If you would like to participate in the car caravan register here to receive information on when and where to gather: https://forms.gle/AntdRBEPjhvZ9v646
As we remember lives lost to Covid 19, it’s important we gather as safely as possible. We will be outside and all attendees are asked to practice social distancing and wear masks.
