The Lori Doesn’t C.A.R.E.S. coalition is coming together to demand that the city government spend our COVID-19 relief on social services, not cops. Out of the last $480 million dollars in federal relief, 60% was spent on CPD, while only 2% went to rental assistance, 3% on small businesses, and 4% to public health.

With the new 1.9 trillion dollar COVID relief bill we know more money is coming to Chicago and we need to make sure that it actually goes to Chicagoans in need! We are demanding aldermen distribute these new funds to help re-open mental health clinics, ramp up vaccine roll out, pass a fully funded mental health crisis response program, fund initiatives for aiding houseless people, improve remote learning, and create a city initiative to hire unemployed youth to train the elderly in zoom and email. Join us to let Mayor Lightfoot and the Aldermen who granted her emergency powers to let them know that this money needs to be spent on actual relief!
