Gerald Reed has spent 30 years in prison for crimes he did not commit. In 1990, he was tortured by Chicago police until a metal rod in his leg snapped and his leg broke, forcing him to give a false confession to end his torture. His conviction was vacated in December 2018 but he remained in prison due to a legal technicality. Then, on February 14th, 2020, Judge Horrible Hennelly ruled that Gerald had to fulfill the rest of his life sentence. This decision was illegal, but Judge Hennelly has still faced no consequences. We are demanding for the governor to pardon Gerald Reed so he no longer has to go through the circus of the court system that has already failed him. We are demanding the governor free ALL survivors of torture and wrongful conviction. Governor Pritzker, Free Gerald Reed NOW! Please bring signs making this demand of the Governor.
