CHICAGO! We’re gearing up for a situation this SATURDAY AUG 22. Will you join us to #BreakThePiggyBank and #defundCPD?

Defund CPD is a massive grassroots effort to reclaim resources from the Chicago Police Department, a racist, violent institution that has too much power over our communities. We are a part of a national movement to abolish policing and incarceration that is calling for defunding the police!

Let’s get it!

NO JUSTICE. NO PEACE. DEFUND THE POLICE. We are gonna rally to #BreakThePiggybank on August 22! Our comrades ( blkrising, letusbreathe, BLMchi, USCPN, Chicago Freedom School, CAAPR, International Black Freedom Alliance, Brave Space Alliance, Chi Resists, AfroSoc of Color, Black Abolitionist Network, Good Kids Madd City and Chi Nations) and BYP100 demand the following –
That city council defund CPD by 75% and invest those funds into non carceral social services and community programs
Immediate CPD budget cuts, including stops on new hiring, weapon purchases, and firing cops with multiple misconduct complaints
That city council pass CPAC
CPD off of CTA and out of other public institutions
A stop to the West Garfield Park Cop Academy
That CPD Decommission the Racist and Arbitrary Gang Database and eliminate the criminal enterprise database
The closure of Homan Square and all other CPD Black Sites
That city council cease all negotiations with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP)
A sotp to asset forfeiture, ending CPD’s ability to seize people’s property
That public and private institutions that defend black lives immediately cut ties with CPD and disband their private police and surveillance firms
