On July 24th, Chicago Restaurant Workers in coalition with Restaurant Workers United will be protesting at the John C. Kluczynski Federal Building. We are asking that @durbincampaign and @senduckworth push for the extension of federal unemployment benefits and that the benefits remain at $600 and nothing less until the pandemic is over. Simultaneously we will be having a phone zap and social media blast so that demands are met. Due to the high cost of living and @govpritzker unwillingness to bring about a rent moratorium, there is no way to survive in Chicago without the full federal benefits. Without full benefits workers will be forced to make the decision, to return to a dangerous work environment and risk their well being or not be able to pay rent and face potential homelessness. We must come together now, to ensure that this is a decision no one has to make.

Tomorrow we will be hosting an open zoom call to discuss the protest and how to come prepared.
