The #ResignBrannigan campaign is reaching its second year anniversary on July 8th, 2019, and we are celebrating our community’s two-year resistance in the face of racism and White Supremacy.
For two years, our coalition of community & social justice organizations and various community members has been demanding the resignation of racist Palos Township trustee Sharon Brannigan after making racist and hateful remarks on her Facebook page. We have also been demanding that the trustees #CensureBrannigan via an official resolution.
Instead of hearing our concerns, she’s refused to resign. She has invited ACT for America, the largest anti-Muslim hate group in the country, to attend the meetings in support of her bigotry. Brannigan’s supporters and her husband have consistently tried to attack us and threaten us with violence. Despite this, we’ve stood resilient and continued with our demand without backing down.
The Township trustees not only have refused to speak out against Brannigan but have been active in trying to silence us. We will not be silent when people’s lives are on the line.
On July 8th, 2019 at 5:30PM we will rally outside and celebrate, then make our way inside of the Palos Township building to attend the monthly general meeting and continue to put pressure on the township to speak up and Brannigan to resign.
