The Alderman, Mayor, and University of Chicago Sign Onto a CBA Ordinance to stop displacement and invest in affordable housing and job training.
As the University of Chicago builds a new luxury hotel, dorm, conference center, as rents are rising, half of the current Woodlawn population is at risk of being pushed out. We are demanding the introduction and passage of a CBA ordinance which would set aside 30% of new housing as real affordable housing, provide property tax relief for long time residents, and require developers like the University of Chicago invest in affordable housing and job training.
