A 24-year-old transgender woman was found dead August 30, 2018, in an alleyway on Chicago’s South Side. The victim, who has now been identified as Dejanay Stanton was a Black trans woman.
Stanton marks the 17th trans person murdered in the United States this year so far—a majority of whom have been Black. The ongoing violence that Trans individuals experience on a daily basis needs to be properly addressed by the community!! In a span of 10 days 3 Trans women have been killed — how can we work as a community to put an end to the violence?
Join us Friday September 21, 2018 on Wabash and Wacker near the Trump Towers at 6pm as we host a rally to commemorate the loss of our Trans siblings. Afterwards we will be marching to the Daily Plaza to host a candlelight vigil.
