The Trump Administrations proposed 2018 budget will cut the Department of Housing and Urban Development by $6.2 Billion leading to higher rents, less money for the repair and maintenance of public buildings and the elimination of Community Development Block Grant funding that benefits public services in Chicago such as Meals on Wheels, Public Broadcasting, and the Golden Diner senior meals program.
We in the #NoCuts Coalition believe that HUD’s budget is underfunded and support closing tax loopholes for the rich in order to achieve a fully funded budget that supports the millions of American seniors, families, and young people that desperately need and deserve housing and community investment through HUD programs.
